Teeth cleaning (Scaling) is a plaque or Calculus removal process. The dentist uses a tool called a scaler to scrape the plaque off your teeth. Even if you are fanatical about flossing, you might have trouble accessing hard-to-reach areas. The dentist can get into tight spots between the teeth and toward the back of the mouth. Polishing is done to smoothen the rough areas on the crown and roots of the teeth. Ideally dental literature recommends teeth cleaning every six months after oral examination.
